🧠 What Is Marketcap?

Marketcap (or “market capitalization”) is the total value of a cryptocurrency.
It’s calculated as:

Marketcap = Current Price × Circulating Supply

So if a coin is $2 and there are 100 million coins in circulation, the marketcap is $200 million.

💡 Why Is It Important? (Even More Than Price)

Price alone doesn’t tell the full story. A coin priced at $0.10 may sound cheap, but if it has 100 billion tokens, its marketcap is $10 billion—not so cheap!

Marketcap gives you a better sense of a coin’s real size and how much money is in it. It’s how you compare coins fairly, no matter their price or supply.

📈 Why Rankings Matter

Coins are ranked by marketcap. So if your coin goes higher in rank, it means money is flowing into it—often from other coins.

This is important because:

  • Big gains usually require big capital inflows.

  • The higher the rank, the more attention and trust the coin gets.

  • Being top 10, top 100, etc., can lead to listing on major exchanges, news coverage, and more buying pressure.
